Hunt: Showdown released

 Hunt SD Logo 1

Today is the day! Crytek’s online multi player bounty hunting game is out now on PC, and it’s got brand-new DLC riding shotgun alongside it. Players can get Hunt: Showdown for PC for $39.99 / €39.99, or bundled with the new Legends of the Bayou DLC for $44.99 / €44.99 / Players who already own the game can purchase just the DLC for $9.99 / €9.99.

Prior to release, Hunt: Showdown spent time in Steam Early Access, a program that allows developers to work closely with their game community as they develop and refine the game, in Hunt’s case, over the course of over 20 updates and multiple patches. That community, says Hunt Producer Fatih Özbayram, was integral to the game’s development process.

“Hunt: Showdown’s development has been completely community-driven, and that has been such a rewarding experience for the entire team. Together with the community, we were able to create the fun, tense, memorable gaming experience we set out to make. For example, it was a community request that inspired us to add teams of three to Hunt, alongside many other features,” said Özbayram. “So a big thank you goes out to everyone who has supported us throughout the development process – we couldn’t have done it without you.”

The Legends of the Bayou DLC plunges deep into the bayou’s dark heart to celebrate the full PC release of Hunt: Showdown and provide those loyal to the cause with two new Legendary Hunter characters, two unique weapons, and 500 Blood Bonds.

Stepping out of the shadows are two formidable Legendary Hunters—the Bone Doctor and the Weird Sister—as well as the Legendary Copperhead, a Nagant M1895 named for the ubiquitous indigenous snake, and a weapon of distinction; it is only carried by the very first Hunters to reach the bayou, and is all the proof a Hunter needs to prove they were here from the start.

About Hunt: Showdown
Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the creatures who are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map, while Hunt’s quickplay mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything.

Hunt SD Logo 1

Crytek is pleased to announce that Hunt-Showdown Update 2.4 is now live. Please note, in some cases you may notice a decrease in texture quality. If you encounter this, please adjust the render resolution scale in the graphic options closer to 100%.

hunt 2.4 live

Highlights:

  • Extended graphics settings - Users can now access a broader range of additional options that can customize performance based on available hardware.
  • Loading time improvements - Optimized the time to get into matches on both client and server (Potential saving of 20-30 seconds).
  • Resolution scaling - Players can now scale the game rendering independently for their desired resolution which can significantly improve GPU performance when users are GPU bound.
  • GPU optimizations - Re-balanced low spec configuration and reduced GPU cost across the board.
  • CPU optimizations - Mainthread will be more stable and generally more efficient thanks to a collection of smaller improvements in game code and systems.
  • Matchmaking changes – Added an additional matchmaking bracket. Current brackets are now set to ranks 1 to 33 (with overflow to 50), ranks 34 to 66 (with overflow to 80), and ranks 67 to max rank (including prestige).
  • Solo Missions – Solo missions will now be single target missions (1 Boss).
  • New weapons
    • Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine - A modified version of the Nagant M1895 Officer pistol with a long barrel and a stock.
    • Specter 1882 Compact - A modified version of the Specter 1882 Shotgun with a foregrip and a sawn-off barrel. Wider spread, but shorter range.
    • Crossbow Shotbolt - A hand-crafted crossbow that mixes the characteristics traits of a shotgun with those of a crossbow, utilizing bolts tipped with shotgun shells that detonate on impact setting off a cone of shotgun pellets.

Hunt: Solo Event - Aug 2018

hunt showndown logo

Today (30. August 2018) Hunt's very first live event begins, and if you own the game, you can join in right now. (If you don't already own the game, you can get Hunt on Steam.) Solo players will have their moment to rise up during the week-long Solo Event, where every match consists of up to ten solo players. No team advantage. One bounty per boss.

With only one bounty up for grabs during each round, things are going to get intense. If you see another Hunter, you probably aren't going to wait around before going for the headshot. Everyone and everything on the map is your opponent—and a direct threat to your ability to take home any bounty at all. Things just got serious.

You may die alone, but during the Hunt Solo Event, when you play alone, you have a fighting chance to take the bounty and win the round. All you need to do to join is to select “Solo" on the contract screen, and then “Solo Event," and you're in. The matchmaking system will take care of the rest. Just remember, if you select a multiplayer contract, you won't be given the Solo Event option, so if you can't find the button, go back a few screens and have another look.
