The CryENGINE 3 Educational SDK is for educators wanting to ensure that their students gain experience with the state-of-the-art in game development and real-time 3D technology. For courses and research projects in game development, 3D graphics, simulation, architecture, animation, film and design, CryENGINE 3 is the most up-to-date, real-time 3D technology available.

Das klingt für mich wie ein, armseliger, Versuch Epic Games UDK nach zu eifern.
Statt es für "Pädagogen" freizugeben könnten sie es auch gleich für die gesamte Gamer-Gemeinde zu freien Download anbieten.

Armselig ist die zudem nicht, ist schon eine der Besten Engines, bzw. die beste Engine auf dem Markt. Zudem ist die niegelnagelneu und es gibt noch gar kein Spiel.

Zudem ist Crytek kein Pennerverein, der etwas für LAU entwickelt, ist schon die beste Softwareschmiede weltweit. Also das armselig würde ich mal auf die Leute beziehen, die so denken wie du.

Wenn die CE3 alt wäre, 3 Jahre oder so, dann wäre deine Aussage zutreffend. Sie ist nicht alt und es ist keine Open Source Software, die man überall runterladen kann.

Crytek möchte damit auch Geld verdienen, die leben davon. Das nennt man Arbeiten!

Ich habe nie geschrieben, dass Crytek armselig wäre. Ich habe auch nicht geschrieben ihre Arbeit wäre armselig oder die Engine wäre armselig.
Ebenso wenig habe ich geschrieben, dass die CryEngine alt ist, was sie aber ist.
Die CryEngine ist schließlich schon seit Far Cry im Einsatz, wurde "nur" stetig verbessert und teilweise neu geschrieben, wie die Unreal Engine eben auch. Falls du also wirklich der Meinung sein solltest, die CryEngine wäre nicht alt, so ist das dann weder die Id Tech Engine, noch die Unreal Engine, noch die IW-Engine, Source Engine oder die Gamebryo Engine, da sie ja alle stetig verbessert werden.
Das einzige was ich als armselig bezeichnet habe ist diese Aktion. Und wie sie dabei Geld verdienen, wenn sie die CryEngine "verschenken" musst du mir mal erklären.
Crytek die beste Softwareschmiede weltweit. So so... Also, sind die "CryGames" alle super duper mega geil die alles in den Schatten stellen? Besser als sagen wir Half Life? Besser als GTA? Besser als Fallout? Ihre Multiplayer Titel sind auch alle erfolgreicher als World of Warcraft? Das stimmt nicht. Crytek ist nicht schlecht aber auch nicht "das beste weltweit". Aller höchstens vielleicht das beste Deutschlands im Shooter Bereich..
Um das nochmal klar zustellen: Ich finde es ist ein, in meinen Augen armseliger, Versuch dem UDK nach zu eifern.

Wurde ja seitens Crytek selbst bestätigt das die Cryengine 3 eine Art "Riesen Update" ist und sonst vieles beim alten geblieben ist. Was aber nicht heißen soll das die CE3 schlecht wäre oder "nur" ein wenig besser wie die CE2! Nein, genau das Gegenteil ist hier der Fall. Crytek hat die Cryengine 3 verbessert, so dass sie flüssiger auf Low und High-End Hardware läuft, noch hochwertigere Texturen und Co.

Erst die Cryengine4, falls den der Name "Cryengine" bleiben soll. Wird eine komplett neu entwickelte Engine sein.
