Did not buy ME3
I understand that Publishers and Developers want to make a buck. Hell, I keep telling myself to get back into school, learn how to code and make a game and become the next Notch (Yeah right. Wishful thinking but would like to code). I would hope I would make something creative and popular and eventually make a living from it.
But I grew up when everything you had was on a cart and if the game was popular enough that the fans demanded more, the company would make a sequel.
Maybe it was because I was naive and a child, it felt like developers and publishers wanted to make a game for you, the fan to enjoy. Everything they worked on was completely in that piece of plastic.
Now, it has turned into ways to exploit the consumer to give 1 more dollar, 2 more, 10 more. Want to use Cheats? Pay for the cheats DLC pack. New skin? 5 bucks. Remember when additional player skins were secrets to discover and earn?
Yes, DLC can arrive quicker than having the development team head back into the office and create another title and release it next year but why not offer it for free as a thank you gift to everybody who supported your game? Or, do what Blizzard did back in the day with Expansion Packs to add more content at a reasonable price.
10 dollars for 1 character and 2 hours does not compare at all to Blizzard's $35 dollars Diablo 2 Expansion that brought 2 new characters, a whole new campaign and endless hours to go back and earn even more loot.
Maybe I'm just turning into a cranky old late 20 year old that hates to see what he grew up with will never be the same and my children will never see it either. I don't care for it and I am not supporting this game.
