Yes the leaf-textures are quite ugly but at distance it doesn't look that bad and isn't that noticeable. What other textures are you talking about looking bad? I use the texture overhaul mod where most textures ingame are replaced with higher-res ones.

The supersampling sure does ALOT in this game. Still i took these at about medium graphics, static lighting, all sliders at half etc. Couldn't do maxed graphics and enhanced static lighting when using supersampling at the same time because the performance was baaad, about 10fps
