Welcome to an update for the upcoming mod for Crysis entitled,
Edge Of The Sky, currently in development by ourselves, the
PureEdge team. Today, we would like to present for you our progress over the past few weeks, some new models, updates to the game mechanics and to top it off a few new Wallpapers created for the community. Mod Information
The modification is based upon the best selling game "
Mirrors Edge" and to this extent allows the player to be able to jump from building to building and adds a host of other abilities not found in vanilla Crysis Wars/Warhead. Based in a modern city environment, the player will mostly be located on rooftops or inside buildings, with the ability to run on walls and jump from distant locations! The player will play as the newly recruited "Runner" Trianna, which, as the storyline progresses, gets and completes different missions. Remember that the story and it's features/characters is likely to change as it's being developed! Names, events or major features may be removed or changed.
Mod Features
Here we would like to present a small selection of some of the special features that will be found in our modification. Including a special climbing system, wall running and slow motion, they are as follows:
- The new slowmotion system that allows the player to slowdown moments, to enjoy firing in midair
- The new bullettime system that allows the player to watch the bullets path, and to follow them into their target with the camera
- New weapons and vehicles
- New balancing system that allows the players to balance themselves when walking on ledges by moving the mouse to the sides
- Climbing/Wallrunning system that allows the player to walk on walls and jump onto edges and grab onto them
- No HUD, you simply view directly through the eyes of your character
- Many more gameplay & graphics changes
Game Modes
Detailed below is some information regarding the game modes that will be featured in our modification. The singleplayer version, based around a campaign and a time run feature and also the multiplayer version which includes both the familiar Crytek standard IA/TIA modes and also two brand new modes entitled
Runners and
Overload.
- Singleplayer
There are several multiplayer modes, but only one Campaign. In the Campaign mode, you play as the rebel Trianna, that is trying to escape her past, as well as trying to complete her missions for the group of rebels called "Runners". Besides the Campaign mode, there's the TimeRun mode, where players are supposed to reach a destination in a certain amount of time, and to break their own records. A system that uploads TimeRun scores is also being considered. There isn't much details in the levels yet, as we're working on core gameplay. We're in the process of working on details in the maps displayed further below. - Multiplayer
The Multiplayer part of the game will feature two new gamemodes, as well as the standard TIA/IA gamemodes by Crytek. The two new gamemodes are called Runner and Overload, As we wrote about the first gamemode, Overload, in the previous update, we'll tell you about the Runner gamemode here:

The second team is supposed to find and take out the other teammember which has equipped an "Skysuit", that makes him/her stronger, faster and more durable. The first team wins if he/she is still standing when the time has run out, and loses when he/she has been eliminated. "
Teaser Video
For this update, we prepared two videos of the Singleplayer map, Edge, but as we didn't achieve the results we wanted with the second one, we're waiting until the next update with it. The first video, the Edge introduction, shows the overall Edge map, and just displays the looks of how the mod will look. The second video, which will be put into the next update, features examples of the abilities available in the mod.

WIP Singleplayer Maps
We're currently working on multiple singleplayer maps, and one multiplayer map. One of the maps is being made by
TerrorBlast and will be the intro/opening to the Campaign. Another one is being made by
Doggfather and is the second singleplayer map, which currently goes under the project name "Edge". We're currently also working on multiple multiplayer maps, such as "Eldorado" and "Rooftop Gardens". The maps being made are developed by teammember

WIP Weapons
Modelers sashaNAR and Bigfish are currently working on two new weapons, the UZI and the Beretta PX4 Storm. We're currently not ready to publish better pictures than these below, but we'll feature better pictures in the upcoming updates. Our modelers are also currently working on multiple new vehicles, that we will feature in a upcoming update, but we're not ready to say anything as of today.
