Set in 2047, players take control of a character called Prophet, who's seeking revenge after revealing the truth behind Cell Coporation's motives for building a fully-shielded 'Liberty Dome' over New York. Armed with composite bow, upgraded nano-suit and alien tech, Prophet enters the Dome, a rain-forest urban environment crowded with dense vegetation, marshes and wild rivers and battles both extraterrestrial foes and aggressive human enemies.
The game will be due out for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.
"Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love," said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. "Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we're able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game."
Players can pre-order the Hunter Edition of the game through EA's Origin or selected retailers, which grants early access to a powerful composite bow and Hunter module, providing additional power and functionality to the nano-suit. Owners will also get a XP boost for multiplayer, and three exclusive dog tags.

The third game sees players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York, only to discover the city's been encased in a giant Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation "The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers," the official blurb reads. "Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders.


"This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet."
Set in 2047, Prophet is said to be on a "revenge mission" after uncovering the truth behind Cell's motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. "The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces," says EA.
"In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL's covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet's quest for retribution."

EA's confirmed a special edition of the game, which grants early access to the new signature bow weapon, among other goodies.
Crytek CEO, Cevat Yerli says of the game: "Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love.

Ok, also noch mal in Deutsch zusammengefasst die wichtigsten bekannten Eckpunkte, fü jeden gut zu lesen.

- PC, X360, PS3, im Frühjahr 2013

- Es spielt 2047 in New York.

- New York ist von einem "Nanodome" der CELL (nicht der Aliens) überzogen (Kuppel?). Die Bewohner wurden evakuiert und ihnen wurde gesagt, dort würde man sich der verbleibenden (!) Aliens entledigen. Was wirklich ist, man weiß es nicht.

- Dieser Nanodome lässt die Natur sich schneller entfalten. Deshalb ist New York mittlerweile mehr Jungle als Stadt.

- Die sog. "7 Wonders" sind 7 komplett verschiedene Vegetations bzw. Landschaftszonen, in denen gespielt wird.
Tropenjungle, Sumpflandschaft und Canyons sind bekannt.

- Prophet wird gespielt und ist auf einer "Rache Mission". Dabei ist Micheal Sykes aka Psycho wieder mit von der Partie.

- Es gibt verschiedene neue Waffen neben dem Bogen, diesmal sind auch Alienwaffen mit an Bord.

- Crysis 3 wird als "semi-openworld" bezeichnet (ähnlich wie Crysis 1). Man ist also darauf bedacht das Spiel nicht nur vertikal, sondern vor allem auch wieder horizontal deutlich weiter zu machen.

- KI wird natürlich besser. Man gibt ganz offen zu, dass der Grafiksprung nicht mehr so signifikant sein wird (CryEngine 3), aber die bisher releasten Bilder, vor allem die ohne Nanosuit
zB das unten gepostete zeigen doch ganz ordentliche Optik, die recht nah am endgültigen Aussehen liegen dürfte.

Mit «Crysis 2» wurde Crytek mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Konntet ihr trotzdem Lehren aus «Crysis 2» ziehen?
Sehr viele sogar. Im New-York-Setting von «Crysis 2» verdeckten Hochhäuser stets die Sicht. Statt weitsichtig zu spielen und weite Felder vor sich zu haben, fehlte in «Crysis 2» der Überblick. Das haben wir geändert.

PC Games-Redakteur Robert Horn und Play 3-Redakteur Toni Opl waren als einzige Deutsche bereits vor Ort bei Crytek und haben sich Crysis 3 exklusiv angesehen. Zusammen mit Redaktionsleiter Thorsten Küchler sprechen sie vor die Kamera über den neuen Crytek-Shooter. Mehr Infos gibt es in der kommenden PC Games 05/12 ab 25. Also bei PCGames sind die Gefühle so:
- Das Crysis/FarCry-Feeling ist auf jeden Fall da.
- Das Level das gezeigt wurde war eher schlauchig, aber es wurde gesagt, dass kommt auf die Zone an wo man spielt.
- Grafisch sah es nicht besonders herausragend aus, eher "wie ein Mod zu Crysis 2".
- bis zum Release soll sich aber noch was tun, Crysis 1 Sprünge sind aber absolut unrealistisch laut Crytek.
