Rumors have been circling around the net and gamer forums about a possible new project
Valve has been working on, hinting at the possibility of a new gaming console. Hints from
Valve employees are confirming that the
Steam Box rumors could be true.
The rumors have been swirling around for months now about the possible gaming console by
Valve after an engineer from the company tweeted about a
Valve project. The tweet out right stated that "
Valve is working on a next-gen console called
Steam Box." The news was featured on the gaming blog site
MyNintendoNews. But the talk recently gained some momentum after
Apple CEO Tim **** was visiting the Valve main offices.
This news could mean that
Apple plans on jumping into the gaming industry with the well
Valve and
Steam names. Which is exciting given that Apple is well known for their hardware, and their innovative designs.
Apple shows up to scene shortly after
Valve posted job listings for electronics and hardware engineers familiar with "design, concept, can produce new types of input/output, and platform hardware."
However, regardless of being aware that both companies are involved in secret projects,
Valve's co-founder Gabe Newell stands behind the talks being only rumors as reported by
The PA Report. "It's definitely not the first thought that crosses our mind; we'd rather hardware people that are good at manufacturing and distributing hardware do that...If we have to sell hardware we will," said Newell.
